Mark Bartholomew - Clinical Psychologist Gold Coast

 


Mark is a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Clinical Psychologist located on the Gold Coast

Dr Mark Bartholomew is a Clinical Psychologist who works with all adults (18+ years) presenting with a range of common psychological concerns. Dr Bartholomew has undergone extensive training in psychology and holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Bachelor of Psychology with First Class Honours and is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. Dr Bartholomew is an accredited STAP supervisor, providing training and support to junior psychologists and psychologists seeking endorsement in Clinical Psychology.

 

Dr Bartholomew has a special interest in providing individual psychotherapy with an emphasis on allowing clients to openly explore the core mechanisms that influence their emotions and behaviours. He has helped clients presenting with problems including anxiety (social anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, panic attacks, OCD, phobias), mood related issues, relationship problems, trauma (workplace trauma, childhood abuse, assault, victims of violence, motor vehicle accidents), adjustment to injury counselling, and general work/life stress. Online psychology appointments are also available.

 

Dr Bartholomew utilises approaches supported by research that have demonstrated efficacy for reaching client goals including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Schema Therapy. Dr Bartholomew has experience in a range of settings including private practice, hospitals, psychiatric clinics, government and not-for-profit roles. As a component of his doctorate and undergraduate training Dr Bartholomew conducted research studies on weight loss maintenance and the enhancement of happiness.

 

Dr Bartholomew believes that a core prerequisite for effective psychotherapy is a quality working relationship that includes trust, respect and honesty. This forms the basis of all his therapeutic work with clients. All clients who access services are offered a therapeutic environment that is open, non-judgemental and safe to explore the issues that are of most concern.
